शोधकर्ताओं का मानना है कि कॉर्टिकल वॉल्यूम में आने वाली कमी कोई बुरी बात नहीं है, असल में यह दिमाग की शुद्धता को बढ़ाता है और उसे ज्यादा रिफाइन करता है। इससे बच्चे के साथ उसका मानसिक संबंध बेहतर होता है। बच्चे से उसके रिश्ते में प्रेम पनपता है। मां बनने वाली महिलाओं के मुकाबले ये थोड़ा सा ज्यादा होता है। इसलिए उनका बच्चे के साथ लगाव, प्रेम और संबंध ज्यादा घना और गहरा होता है। ज्यादा मजबूत रिश्ता होता है।


पहले के अध्ययन में यह बताया गया था कि बच्चे के जन्म के बाद पिता बनने वाले पुरुष के दिमाग में थोड़ा बहुत बदलाव आता है। नई स्टडी में इस बात पर ध्यान दिया गया है कि कितना और कैसा बदलाव होता है। यह अध्ययन मैग्नेटिक रेजोनेंस इमेजिंग (एमआरआई) डाटा पर आधारित है। जिसमें पहली बार पिता बने 40 लोगों के दिमाग का बच्चे के जन्म से पहले और बाद में विश्लेषण किया गया है। इसमें से 20 स्पेन के हैं, जबकि 20 अमेरिका के हैं। इसके अलावा स्पेन में 17 और उन लोगों के दिमाग का भी अध्ययन किया गया है, जिनके बच्चे नहीं है। सबका डाटा एक साथ जमा करने के बाद दो प्रयोगशालाओं में इनके दिमाग के वॉल्यूम, मोटाई और ढांचागत विकास का अध्ययन किया गया है।
