Veer Singh Cleanchit .. No matter how deep the darkness of untruth is, the truth finds its way. Something similar happened in a case related to a very high profile family of the country which has now become an example for crores of families in the country. After a long battle of more than 2 years, industrialist Veer Singh, who was publicly embroiled in a legal tussle with his former partner, is said to have finally emerged victorious. This happened after all the criminal cases were unconditionally withdrawn by his former partner, who had cleverly initiated these cases as a retaliatory move to bring their domestic issues to the criminal court.
Let’s know what was the whole matter Veer Singh Cleanchit
This is from the year 2021. It was told that businessman Veer Singh has a 5-year-old child with the woman, she had obtained an interim maintenance order of several lakh rupees from the family court under the guise of being his illegal wife. It was claimed that the woman, driven by her lust for wealth and prosperity, immediately approached the police authorities and sought registration of an FIR against Singh and his family on the so-called false and frivolous allegations, but on the other hand was told that these were completely devoid of any real case of crime. This was being done despite obtaining huge maintenance orders from the courts against Singh. However, the police authorities refrained from taking any action as no evidence was found after a thorough investigation. On much insistence, her former partner approached the Metropolitan Magistrate and the court of law in September 2022 seeking registration of an FIR. Here too, she did not succeed. The complainant approached the Revisional Court challenging the Metropolitan Magistrate’s order refusing to register the FIR.
In March, 2023, while dismissing the allegations against Singh’s family members, the Revisional Court directed registration of an FIR against Veer Singh. However, the Delhi High Court intervened and stayed the order of the Revisional Court directing registration of FIR against Singh and came to the conclusion that the complainant cannot claim maintenance as a wife alleging rape. It may be noted here that during this period the complainant continued to receive huge sums of money as maintenance from Singh running into lakhs of rupees every month. Consequently, aggrieved by the actions of the complainant, Singh ordered her husband to pay compensation of Rs 10 lakhs to her.
Veer Singh stopped all payments towards maintenance. Singh highlighted the conduct of the complainant in the Hon’ble Supreme Court by adopting contradictory stance in both criminal and civil proceedings, twisting the law to her own advantage. It was brought to the notice of the Court that the complainant claimed to be a wife to claim maintenance, while levelling rape charges against Singh, that too without any evidence.
The Hon’ble Supreme Court, having considered this, clearly informed the complainant that the law cannot be used to coerce another. The Hon’ble Supreme Court issued an ultimatum, and indicated that such criminal complaints/proceedings are not sustainable in law. The complainant made feeble attempts to initiate criminal proceedings against Singh and his family as well as to justify her position to be entitled to maintenance as a last resort, but ultimately unconditionally withdrew all criminal proceedings against Singh and his family. As the criminal proceedings cool down, this case has now sent a message to the public where criminal law is used to intimidate and maliciously engage in litigation to take revenge.
