Bricks For Space चांद और मंगल ग्रह पर इंसानी बस्तियां बसाने को लेकर अरसे से शोध चल रहे हैं। हाल में भारतीय वैज्ञानिकों ने इस दिशा में उल्लेखनीय शोध किया है। इंडियन इंस्टीट्यूट आफ साइंस (IISC), बंगलुरु और इंडियन स्पेस रिसर्च आर्गनाइजेशन (इसरो) ने मिलकर ‘अंतरिक्ष ईंट’ तैयार की है। इस ईंट की मदद से मंगल पर इमारतें बनाई जा सकती हैं।

- Bricks For Space वैज्ञानिकों की तरफ से इस खास ईंट को बनाने के लिए मंगल की ‘सिमुलेंट सायल’ (एमएसएस) यानी प्रतिकृति मिट्टी और यूरिया का इस्तेमाल किया गया है। इन अंतरिक्ष ईंटों से मंगल ग्रह पर इमारत जैसी संरचनाएं तैयारी की जा सकती हैं। इससे मंगल ग्रह पर इंसानों को बसाने में मदद मिल सकती है।
- वैज्ञानिकों ने बैक्टीरिया आधारित तकनीक मदद से अंतरिक्ष ईंटों को बनाया है। उन्होंने सबसे पहले मंगल जैसी मिट्टी, ‘स्पोरोसारसीना पेस्टुरी’ नाम के बैक्टीरिया, ग्वार गोंद, यूरिया और निकल क्लोराइड को एक साथ मिला लिया। इसके बाद इस घोल को ईंट के आकार के सांचों में डाल दिया। बैक्टीरिया ने कुछ दिनों बाद यूरिया को कैल्शियम कार्बोनेट के क्रिस्टल में बदल दिया। आइआइएससी और इसरो के वैज्ञानिकों ने साल 2020 के अगस्त में चांद की मिट्टी पर इस तरह का प्रयोग किया था।शोधकर्ताओं का कहना है कि चांद की ईंट बनाने के लिए इस्तेमाल होने वाली प्रक्रिया से सिर्फ बेलनाकार ईंटें ही बनाई जा सकती थीं।
- Bricks For Space लेकिन अब वैज्ञानिकों के इस प्रयोग से कई तरह की ईंटें बनाई जा सकती हैं। आइआइएससी\ में मैकेनिकल इंजीनियरिंग विभाग के एसोसिएट प्रोफेसर और शोधकर्ता आलोक कुमार का कहना है कि मंगल ग्रह की मिट्टी से ईंट बनाना मुश्किल काम था। मंगल की मिट्टी में आयरन आक्साइड बहुत ज्यादा होता है। इसकी वजह से उसमें बैक्टीरिया पैदा नहीं हो पाता है।निकल क्लोराइड की मदद से मिट्टी को बैक्टीरिया के अनुकूल बनाया जाता है। बैक्टीरिया अपने प्रोटीन का इस्तेमाल कर कणों को एक साथ बांध देते हैं और संरध्रता को कम कर देते हैं। इससे मजबूत ईंटों को बनाने में मदद मिलती है।
- Bricks For Space फिलहाल वैज्ञानिकों ने अंतरिक्ष ईंट का सिर्फ एक प्रोटोटाइप बनाने का काम किया है। अब शोधकर्ता यह जानने की कोशिश में लगे हैं कि मंगल के वातावरण में यह ईंटें कितनी टिकेंगी। पृथ्वी और मंगल के वातावरण में जमीन आसमान का अंतर है। वहां कार्बन डायआक्साइड, परक्लोरेट्स ज्यादा और गुरुत्वाकर्षण बेहद कम है। इससे ईंट के विकास में शामिल किए गए बैक्टीरिया पर असर पड़ सकता है।
- Bricks For Space आइआइएससी के मेकेनिकल इंजीनियर विभाग के सहायक प्रोफेसर कौशिक विश्वनाथन के मुताबिक, पिछली बार जब चांद के लायक ईंट बनाई गई थी, तब सिर्फ बेलनाकार ईंट का उत्पादन किया गया था। परंतु अब वैज्ञानिकों ने अपने शोध स्लरी कास्टिंग विधि में जटिल आकार की ईद का उत्पादन भी कर सकती है।शोधकर्ताओं के मुताबिक, मंगल ग्रह पर वातावरण पृथ्वी के वायुमंडल की तुलना में 100 गुणा पतला है और वहां 95 फीसद से भी ज्यादा कार्बन डाइआक्साइड है। यह कार्बन डाइआक्साइड वहां के बैक्टीरिया को विकास करने में प्रभावित कर सकता है।
- Bricks For Space वैज्ञानिकों की योजना यह है कि इस केबिन में मंगल ग्रह पर वायुमंडलीय और कम गुरुत्वाकर्षण के प्रभाव की जांच अंतरिक्ष ईटों की मजबूती पर किया जाए। केबिननुमा यह उपकरण सूक्ष्म गुरुत्वाकर्षण स्थितियों में बैक्टीरिया के व्यवहार की प्रयोगशाला है। आइआइएससी में बायो केयर फेलो और प्रमुख शोधकर्ता रश्मि दीक्षित के मुताबिक, ईंटों से जुड़ा एक और प्रयोग चल रहा है। अंतरिक्ष में गुरुत्वाकर्षण का बैक्टीरिया के विकास पर असर को लेकर शोध चल रहा है।
