Meghalaya Whistling Village क्या आपको पता है कि भारत में एक ऐसा गांव है जिसे ‘व्हिसलिंग विलेज’ के नाम से जाना जाता है? जी हां यह है मेघालय का कोंगथोंग गांव. यहां लोग एक-दूसरे को उनके नामों से नहीं, बल्कि विशेष धुन से पुकारते हैं. जिसके कारण इस इलाके को ‘व्हिसलिंग विलेज’ के नाम से जाना जाता है. कोंगथोंग पूर्वी खासी हिल्स जिले में स्थित है, जो मेघालय की राजधानी शिलांग से लगभग 60 किमी दूर है.
कोंगथोंग गांव के लोग अपने गांव वालों तक अपना संदेश पहुंचाने के लिए सीटी बजाते हैं. कोंगथोंग के ग्रामीणों ने इस धुन को जिंगरवाई लवबी कहा जाता है, जिसका अर्थ ‘मां का प्रेम गीत’ है. यहां रहने वाले गांव वालों के दो नाम होते हैं, एक सामान्य नाम और दूसरा गाने का नाम. इसके अलावा गाने के नाम के दो वर्जन होते हैं, एक लंबा गाना और दूसरा छोटा गाना. छोटा गाना आम तौर पर घर में इस्तेमाल किया जाता है.

खोंगसिट ने बताया कि यह व्यवस्था हमारे गांव में पीढ़ी दर पीढ़ी चली आ रही है. हमें नहीं पता कि यह कब शुरू हुई, लेकिन सभी ग्रामीण इससे बहुत खुश हैं. गांव के एक अन्य ग्रामीण जिप्सन सोखलेट ने कहा कि एक-दूसरे से बात करने के लिए धुनों का भी इस्तेमाल करते हैं. उन्होंने कहा कि हमारे गाँव में लगभग 700 की आबादी है, इसलिए हमारे पास लगभग 700 अलग-अलग धुनें हैं. सोखलेट ने कहा कि अब मेघालय के कुछ अन्य गांवों के लोग भी इस प्रथा को अपना रहे हैं. यह प्रणाली पारंपरिक रूप से पीढ़ी दर पीढ़ी चली आ रही है. हम इन प्रथाओं को जारी रख रहे हैं.
