Supreme Court on Prostitution सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने गुरुवार को कहा कि वेश्यावृत्ति भी एक प्रोफेशन है। कोर्ट ने सभी राज्यों और केंद्र शासित प्रदेशों की पुलिस को आदेश दिया है कि उन्हें सेक्स वर्कर्स के काम में हस्तक्षेप नहीं करना चाहिए। पुलिस को बालिग और सहमति से सेक्स वर्क करने वाली महिलाओं पर आपराधिक कार्रवाई नहीं करनी चाहिए।

- सुप्रीम कोर्ट कोरोना के दौरान सेक्स वर्कर्स को आई पर परेशानियों को लेकर दायर एक याचिका पर सुनवाई कर रहा था। कोर्ट ने कहा कि सेक्स वर्कर्स भी कानून के तहत गरिमा और समान सुरक्षा के हकदार हैं।जस्टिस एल नागेश्वर राव, जस्टिस बीआर गवई और जस्टिस एएस बोपन्ना की बेंच ने सेक्स वर्कर्स के अधिकारों को सुरक्षित करने की दिशा में 6 निर्देश भी जारी किए हैं। कोर्ट ने कहा,सेक्स वर्कर्स भी देश के नागरिक हैं। वे भी कानून में समान संरक्षण के हकदार हैं।
