Pavagadh Kalika Temple गुजरात के पावागढ़ में जिस प्राचीन मंदिर के शिखर को तोड़कर एक सुल्तान ने दरगाह का निर्माण करवाया था, वहाँ दोबारा काली माता का मंदिर बनकर तैयार हो गया है। 500 साल बाद 18 जून 2022 को प्रधानमंत्री मोदी ने यहाँ ध्वज को फहराया तो ये मंदिर दोबारा चर्चा में आया।

  • Pavagadh Kalika Temple जानकारी के मुताबिक, इस मंदिर पर महमूद बेगड़ा नाम के सुल्तान ने 15 वीं सदी में हमला किया था। महमूद गुजरात का छठा सुल्तान था और उसका पूरा नाम अबुल फत-नासिर-उद-दीन महमूद शाह प्रथम था। मात्र 13 साल की उम्र में सुल्तान की गद्दी पर बैठने के बाद उसने गुजरात में 52 साल राज किया।  कई लोगों ने इस सुल्तान का खूँखार रूप कई बार देखा। वह इलाकों को कब्जाने के लिए जंग लड़ता और जब जीत हासिल होती तो वहाँ के राजाओं से इस्लाम कबूल करने को कहता। जैसे ही कोई राजा इस्लाम मानने से मना करता वह उन्हें मौत के घाट उतार देता।

  • Pavagadh Kalika Temple उसने जूनागढ़ और पावागढ़ में भी अपना कब्जा बहुत जल्दी कर लिया था। इसके बाद उसने महाकाली के मंदिर और द्वारका मंदिर को तुड़वाया। हिंदू मंदिरों पर हमले से उसका उद्देश्य साफ था कि हिंदुओं की अपने भगवान के प्रति आस्था कम हो जाए और वह इस्लाम कबूलें।

  • Pavagadh Kalika Temple हिंदुओं पर तमाम अत्याचार करने वाला बेगड़ा अपनी राक्षसी भूख के चलते भी कुख्यात रहा। दावा किया जाता है कि बेगड़ा अपने नाश्ते में प्याला भप के शहद, मक्खन और 100-150 केले खा जाता था। उसे रात में सोते समय भी भूख लगती थी इसलिए वह रात में सोने से पहले अपने खाने का इंतजाम करता था और तकिए के पास माँस से भरे समोसे रखवाता था।

  • Pavagadh Kalika Temple महमूद बेगड़ा को लोगों ने जहरीला सुल्तान नाम दिया हुआ है। इसके पीछे भी एक कहानी है जिसका जिक्र ‘द बुक ऑफ ड्यूरेटे बबोसा वॉल्यूम 1’ में मिलता है। किताब में बताया गया कि बेगड़ा का अब्बा नहीं चाहता था कि उसकी औलाद को कोई जहर देकर मारे। इसलिए उसने बेगड़ा को बचपन से जहर का सेवन करवा-करवा कर इतना आदि बना दिया कि उसके शरीर पर जहर ने काम करना बंद कर दिया।

  • Pavagadh Kalika Temple बचपन से जहर खाने की आदत ने बेगड़ा को इतना जहरीला बनाया कि मक्खी तक उसके शरीर को छूकर मर जाती थी। वहीं यदि कोई औरत उसके साथ संबंध बना ले तो वह औरत भी ज्यादा दिन बच नहीं पाती थी। सुल्तान के थूक तक में इतना जहर था कि यदि वो किसी को मारना चाहता था तो पहले पान चबाता था फिर मुँह में थूक बना कर उसकी पिचकारी सामने वाले पर मार देता था। इस तरह जिस पर सुल्तान का थूक गिरता वह आधे घंटे में मर जाता था।
