  • Bahuguna Jayanti देश के महान नेता रहे स्वतंत्रता संग्राम सेनानी उत्तरप्रदेश के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री व पूर्व केंद्रीय मंत्री व सत्तर से 80 के दशक के अंत तक विपक्ष की राजनीति के महत्वपूर्ण ध्रुव रहे स्वर्गीय हेमवती नंदन बहुगुणा की 103 वीं जयंती के अवसर पर देवभूमि मानव संसाधन विकास ट्रस्ट ने धर्मनिरपेक्षता व एच एन बहुगुणा विषय पर विचार गोष्ठी आयोजित कर उनको श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की। इस अवसर पर ट्रस्ट के अध्यक्ष  सूर्यकांत धस्माना ने सैकड़ों साथियों सहित पहले घंटाघर स्थित दिवंगत बहुगुणा की मूर्ति पर मालार्पण कर उनको श्रद्धासुमन अर्पित किए। इसके बाद सूर्यकांत धस्माना ने बहुगुणा जी को आज़ाद भारत का नेहरू व इंदिरा के बाद का सबसे बड़ा धर्मनिरपेक्ष नेता बताया।

  • Bahuguna Jayanti  ट्रस्ट के मुखिया सूर्यकान्त धस्माना ने बहुगुणा जी के जीवन पर प्रकाश डालते हुए कहा कि उत्तराखंड के गढ़वाल संभाग के पौड़ी जिले में ख़िरसु ब्लॉक के बुघाणी गांव में कानून गो रेवतीनंदन बहुगुणा के घर 25 अप्रैल 1919 में जन्में हेमवती नंदन बहुगुणा अपनी प्रारंभिक शिक्षा ख़िरसु व माध्यमिक शिक्षा देहरादून के डीएवी कॉलेज से करने के बाद उच्च शिक्षा के लिए इलाहाबाद चले गए ।

  • Bahuguna Jayanti इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय में स्नातक में प्रवेश लेते ही बहुगुणा छात्र राजनीति में शामिल हो गए और वहीं से राष्ट्रीय आंदोलन में शामिल हो गए। देश की आज़ादी के आंदोलन का ऐसा रंग चढ़ा कि हेमवती नंदन पर अंग्रेजी सरकार ने जिंदा मुर्दा दस हज़ार रुपये इनाम रख दिया। बहुगुणा गिरफ्तार हो कर जेल गए व महीनों तक जेल में रहे। जेल से रिहा होने के बाद देश की आज़ादी तक स्वतंत्रता संग्राम में नेहरू व लाल बहादुर शास्त्री जैसे राष्ट्रीय नेताओं के संपर्क में आये व देश की आज़ादी के बाद हुए पहले विधानसभा चुनावों में इलाहाबाद से चुन कर विधानसभा पहुंचे और फिर संसदीय सचिव से लेकर उत्तरप्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री तक की कामयाब  यात्रा की।  17 मार्च 1989 को अमरीका में हार्ट सर्जरी के दौरान उनकी मृत्यु हो गयी।

  • Bahuguna Jayanti पुराने दिनों को याद करते हुए धस्माना ने हेमवती के 1981 में संपर्क में आने से लेकर उनकी मृत्यु तक के अनेक संस्मरण सुनाए।उन्होंने कहा कि लगभग सात आठ वर्षों में  बहुगुणा जी के सानिध्य में जो राजनैतिक संस्कार हमें मिले वो हमारी सबसे बड़ी पूंजी है । उन्होंने कहा की उनका सबसे बड़ा गुण व्यक्तिगत रूप से एक पक्का कर्मकांडी ब्राह्मण होते हुए राजनेता के रूप में एक सच्चा धर्मनिरपेक्ष नेता होना था .. उनके इस व्यक्तिगत स्वरूप और एक राजनेता के स्वरूप का अनुसरण आज शायद ही कोई नेता कर रहा हो। बहुगुणा के साथ समय गुज़ारने वाले सूर्यकान्त धस्माना ने कहा कि भारत के वर्तमान राजनैतिक परिदृश्य में आज की वास्तविक आवश्यकता है भारत के धर्मनिरपेक्ष स्वरूप को बचाने के लिए राजनेताओं में इस प्रकार की धर्मनिरपेक्षता की आवश्यकता है।
