Capt Amarinder Singh जिस तरह से बीते कुछ सालों में भाजपा संगठन और टॉप लीडरशिप ने अपने फैसलों से सबको चौंकाया है ऐसे में एक खबर आ रही है कि पंजाब के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री कैप्टन अमरिंदर सिंह NDA की ओर से उपराष्ट्रपति पद के उम्मीदवार हो सकते हैं। यह चर्चा कैप्टन के अपनी पार्टी पंजाब लोक कांग्रेस को भाजपा में मर्ज करने की तैयारी के बाद तेज हो गई है। कैप्टन के PM नरेंद्र मोदी और गृह मंत्री अमित शाह से अच्छे संबंध हैं। ऐसा कहा जा रहा है कि पार्टी मर्ज करने के साथ उनकी उम्मीदवारी का ऐलान होगा।

- Capt Amarinder Singh कैप्टन अमरिंदर सिंह का जन्म 11 मार्च 1942 को पंजाब के पटियाला शहर में हुआ. इनके पिता यादविंद्र सिंह पटियाला जी ने स्टेट पुलिस में इंस्पेक्टर जनरल की हैसियत से काम किया, और दुसरे विश्व युद्ध के समय इटली और वर्मा भी गये. इनकी माता का नाम का नाम महारानी मोहिंदर कौर था. इसकी पढाई वेल्हम बॉयज स्कूल और लॉरेन्स स्कूल सनावर से हुई.
- Capt Amarinder Singh अपनी स्कूली पढाई करने के बाद इन्होने देहरादून के दून स्कूल की ओर रुख किया, और वहाँ से आगे की पढाई की. कालांतर में इन्होने नेशनल डिफेन्स अकादमी और इंडियन मिलिट्री स्कूल ज्वाइन किया. सन 1963 ई में ये नेशनल डिफेन्स अकादमी और इंडियन मिलिट्री अकादमी से स्नातक करने के बाद इन्होने भारतीय आर्मी ज्वाइन की. इन्होने सन 1965 में भारत- पाक युद्ध में योगदान दिया, जहाँ वे सिक्ख रेजिमेंट के कैप्टन थे..
