Father Camille Bulcke  उनका नाम था कामिल बुल्के ,  एक सितंबर 1909 को उनका जन्म हुआ था। वह बेल्जियम से भारत आये एक मिशनरी थे। वह पादरी थे और भारत ईसाई धर्म का प्रचार करने आए थे लेकिन यहां की शैली ने उनकी राम और तुलसी में आस्था जगा दी। जब वह भारत आए तो हिंदी, तुलसी और वाल्मीकि के भक्त रहे।

  • Father Camille Bulcke  बुल्के 1934 में भारत की ओर निकले और नवंबर 1936 में भारत, बंबई (अब मुंबई) पहुंचे। इसके बाद वह दार्जिलिंग गए और उसके बाद गुमला (वर्तमान झारखंड)। गुमला में पांच साल तक गणित पढ़ाया। वहीं पर हिंदी, ब्रजभाषा व अवधी सीखी। 1938 में, सीतागढ़/हजारीबाग में पंडित बद्री दत्त शास्त्री से हिंदी और संस्कृत सीखी। भारत की शास्त्रीय भाषा में इनकी रुचि के कारण उन्होंने कलकत्ता विश्वविद्यालय (1942-44) से संस्कृत में मास्टर डिग्री और आखिर में इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय (1945-49) में हिंदी साहित्य में डॉक्टरेट की उपाधि प्राप्त की, इस शोध का शीर्षक था राम कथा की उत्पत्ति और विकास

  • वे कहते थे कि संस्कृत महारानी है, हिन्दी बहूरानी और अंग्रेजी को नौकरानी। इन्हें साहित्य एवं शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में भारत सरकार द्वारा सन 1974 में पद्म भूषण से सम्मानित किया गया। राम के बारे में फादर कामिल बुल्के ने लिखा कि वो वाल्मीकि के कल्पित पात्र नहीं बल्कि एक इतिहास पुरुष थे। उन्होंने बेल्जियम से सिविल इंजीनियरिंग की पढ़ाई की थी, फिर वो ईसाई पादरी बने।

  • Father Camille Bulcke  1950 में वह जब रांची आए तो उन्हें सेंट जेवियर्स महाविद्यालय में हिंदी व संस्कृत का विभागाध्यक्ष बनाया गया। इसी साल उन्हें भारत की नागरिकता भी मिली और इसी वर्ष वे बिहार राष्ट्रभाषा परिषद की कार्यकारिणी के सदस्य नियुक्त हुये। 1972 से 1977 तक वह भारत सरकार की केंद्रीय हिंदी समिति के सदस्य बने रहे और वर्ष 1973 में इन्हें बेल्जियम की रॉयल अकादमी का सदस्य बनाया गया। 17 अगस्त 1982 को दिल्ली के एम्स में उनका निधन हुआ।
