  •  Retirement Home In America पिछले कुछ वर्षों में यहां ऐसे होम्स की संख्या तेजी से बढ़ी है। इसकी बड़ी वजह यह है कि अमेरिका की कुल आबादी में भारतीयों की हिस्सेदारी 1.3% तक पहुंच गई है। इसी के साथ बुजुर्गों की भी संख्या बढ़ी है। कैलिफोर्निया और वॉशिंगटन की उन जगहों पर सबसे ज्यादा सीनियर होम्स खुले हैं, जहां सॉफ्टवेयर कंपनियों के हेड क्वार्टर हैं और भारतीय पेशेवरों की बड़ी आबादी रहती है। हालांकि, ऐसा भी नहीं है कि यहां सिर्फ भारतीय ही रहते हैं। हाल ही में खुले एक नए सेंटर में 150 से ज्यादा बांग्लादेशी बुजुर्ग रह रहे हैं। इनमें से कई कम आय वर्ग वाले हैं।

  • Retirement Home In America  2008 में भारतीय-अमेरिकी डॉक्टरों ने अपने बुजुर्ग माता-पिता की देखरेख के लिए न्यूयॉर्क में पहला देसी सीनियर सेंटर खोला था। अब इनकी संख्या 100 से ज्यादा हो चुकी है, जिनमें कई देशों के करीब 20 हजार बुजुर्ग रहते हैं। इनसे कोई चार्ज नहीं लिया जाता यानी सारी सुविधाएं फ्री हैं।

  • देसी सीनियर सेंटर के इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर के लिए न्यूयॉर्क सिटी काउंसिल ने एक लाख डॉलर (करीब 80 लाख रु.) दिए थे। बाकी खर्च की राशि इससे जुड़े सदस्यों व अन्य लोगों से मिलती है। यहां कई रिटायरमेंट होम्स हैं। तमाम प्राइवेट हैं, जहां एक बेडरूम का मासिक किराया 2.5-5 हजार डॉलर (करीब 2-4 लाख रु.) तक है।
