  • Bahuguna Jayanti इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय में स्नातक में प्रवेश लेते ही बहुगुणा छात्र राजनीति में शामिल हो गए और वहीं से राष्ट्रीय आंदोलन में शामिल हो गए। देश की आज़ादी के आंदोलन का ऐसा रंग चढ़ा कि हेमवती नंदन पर अंग्रेजी सरकार ने जिंदा मुर्दा दस हज़ार रुपये इनाम रख दिया। बहुगुणा गिरफ्तार हो कर जेल गए व महीनों तक जेल में रहे। जेल से रिहा होने के बाद देश की आज़ादी तक स्वतंत्रता संग्राम में नेहरू व लाल बहादुर शास्त्री जैसे राष्ट्रीय नेताओं के संपर्क में आये व देश की आज़ादी के बाद हुए पहले विधानसभा चुनावों में इलाहाबाद से चुन कर विधानसभा पहुंचे और फिर संसदीय सचिव से लेकर उत्तरप्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री तक की कामयाब  यात्रा की।  17 मार्च 1989 को अमरीका में हार्ट सर्जरी के दौरान उनकी मृत्यु हो गयी।
