Egaas bagwal 22 पहले पहाड़ो में राजा ,मांडलिक बरसात ऋतु खत्म होने के बाद प्रमुख त्योहारों को पत्थर युद्ध का अभ्यास करते थे। और इसी पत्थर युद्ध के अभ्यास को बग्वाल कहा जाता है। कालांतर में पत्थर युद्ध का अभ्यास बंद हो गया लेकिन बग्वाल के नाम पर अन्य उत्सव जुड़ गए। अब केवल रक्षाबंधन की बगवाल पर देवीधुरा में पत्थर युद्ध का अभ्यास किया जाता है। उत्तराखंड गढ़वाल की तीसरी बग्वाल ,जिसे बड़ी बग्वाल भी कहते हैं, यह कार्तिक माह की एकादशी को इगास बग्वाल के रूप में मनाई जाती है। और चौथी बग्वाल जिसे रिख बग्वाल कहते हैं। इस चौथी बग्वाल को गढ़वाल के प्रतापनगर, जौनपुर, चमियाला,थौलधार, रवाईं और जौनसार क्षेत्र में बूढ़ी दीवाली के रूप में मनाई जाती है। यह चौथी बग्वाल ,दूसरी बग्वाल के ठीक एक माह बाद मनाई जाती है।

- Egaas bagwal 22 इगास त्योहार मनाने के विषय मे उत्तराखंड में अनेक धारणाएं और मान्यताएं प्रचलित है। पहली मान्यता के अनुसार , सारे देश मे दीपावली भगवान राम के अयोध्या आगमन की खुशी में दीपावली पर्व मनाया जाता है। लेकिन कहते हैं कि उत्तराखंड के पहाड़ी इलाकों में भगवान राम के लौटने की खबर 11 दिन बाद मिली इसलिए पहाड़ों में 11 दिन बाद खुशियां मनाई गई । लेकिन इस मान्यता के पीछे तर्क मजबूत नहीं है। क्योंकि उत्तराखंड के पहाड़वासी , इगास के साथ आमावस्या वाली दीपावली भी मनाते हैं ।और इगास उत्तराखंड के कुछ भागों में मनाई जाती है। और उत्तराखंड के अनेक भागों में अलग अलग तिथियों को बूढ़ी दीपावली मानाते हैं।
- Egaas bagwal 22 ईगास बग्वाल मनाने के पीछे सबसे सटीक कारण उसके नाम में छुपा है। ईगास बग्वाल मतलब एकादशी को किया जाने वाला पत्थर युद्ध अभ्यास । कालांतर में पत्थर युद्ध के अभ्यास की परंपरा खत्म हो गई और कार्तिक एकादशी के दिन उत्तराखंड के वीर भड़ श्री माधो सिंह भंडारी तिब्बत विजय करके लौटे तो उनकी विजय के उपलक्ष में इस दिन उत्सव मनाया गया। और वीर माधो सिंह भंडारी और गढ़वाल की सेना के युद्धरत होने के कारण ,हो सकता प्रजा ने भी अमावस्या की दीपावली नही मनाई और विजय मिलने के बाद ही सबने साथ में खुशियां मनाई । और प्रतिवर्ष उत्तराखंड गढ़वाल में यह पर्व विजयोत्सव के रूप में मनाया जाता है।
- Egaas bagwal 22 इगास त्योहार से एक स्थानीय लोक कथा भी जुड़ी है। उत्तराखंड के गढ़वाल क्षेत्र में भैलो खेल कर बग्वाल ( दीपावली ) मनाई जाती है। कहा जाता है,कि उत्तराखंड गढ़वाल में किसी एक गाव में रहने वाला व्यक्ति ,अमावस्या की बग्वाल ( दीपावली के दिन ) के दिन भैलो खेलने के लिए,छिलके लेने जंगल गया और 11 दिन तक वापस नही आया। 11वे दिन जब वह व्यक्ति वापस आया तब यह पर्व मनाया गया। तब से बग्वाल को भैलो खेलने की परम्परा शुरू हुई।

Egaas bagwal 22 मुख्य दीपावली पर्व की तरह भी इगास बग्वाल को भी घरों में साफ सफाई और दीये जलाए जाते हैं। इस त्यौहार के दिन गाय ,बैलों को पौष्टिक भोजन कराया जाता है। बैलों के सींगों में तेल लगाया जाता है। गोवंश के गले मे माला पहनाकर उनकी पूजा करते हैं। बग्वाल पर्व पर गढ़वाल में बर्त खींचने की परंपरा भी है। यह बर्त का मतलब है, मोटी रस्सी ।इगास पर्व पर भैलो खेलने की परम्परा है। भैलो चीड़ या भीमल आदि की लकड़ियों की गठरनुमा मशाल होती है। जिसे रस्सी से बांधकर शरीर के चारो ओर घुमाते हैं। तथा खुशियां मनाते हैं।हास्यव्यंग करते हुए ,लोक नृत्य और लोककलाओं का प्रदर्शन भी इस दिन किया जाता है। कई क्षेत्रों में पांडव नृत्य की प्रस्तुतियां भी की जाती हैं।
