- Kumaoni Tradition बचपन में आपने अपनी अम्मा और घर की बुजुर्ग सुहागन महिलाओं को जाड़ों में हल्दी ,सुहागा,से घर का पिठ्या रोली तिलक बनाते तो देखा ही होगा। फिर घर के शुभ कार्यों में वहीं तिलक प्रयोग में लाया जाता था। ब्राह्मण ज्यू आते थे, पाठ मंत्रोच्चार के साथ सभी को तिलक करते थे। और घर कि महिलाओं को नाक से माथे तक एक लंबा पिठ्या रोली तिलक लगाते थे। आज भी पहाड़ों में वही परम्परा बदस्तूर निभाई जा रही है।
कुमाऊनी महिलायें इतना लंबा तिलक क्यों लगाती हैं ?
- Kumaoni Tradition क्या आपने कभी सोचा है कि उत्तराखंड के कुमाऊनी महिलायें इतना लंबा तिलक क्यों लगाती हैं ? शादी ब्याह और धार्मिक आयोजनों में पहाड़ की पारम्परिक वेशभूषा और शृंगार में सबसे खूबसूरत हिस्सा है माथे पर लंबा टीका ….. कुमाउनी महिलाएं ही लंबा तिलक ,जिसको नाख टुकम बे पिठ्या बोलते हैं, वो कुमायूं की सांस्कृतिक पहचान है। जैसे रंगीन कुमाऊनी पिछोड़ा उत्तराखंड में महिलाओं की विशेष पहचान मानी जाती हैं , वैसे ही कुमायूं की मातृशक्ति का लंबा तिलक पहाड़ी संस्कृति की धरोहर है।
- Kumaoni Tradition ये अलग बात है कि पलायन और पहाड़ से बाहर ये समृद्ध और सांस्कृतिक पहचान पर संकट बढ़ने लगा है। आधुनिकता की चमक में सिंदूरी की धमक मध्यम पड़ने लगी है। मतलब साफ़ है कि पहाड़ में जो रस्म और रिवाज शान मानी जाती है वही परम्परा दिल्ली मुंबई और दूसरे राज्यों और शहरों में निभाने में आज उत्तराखंड की महिलाओं को थोड़ा झिझक सी महसूस होने लगी है।
- Kumaoni Tradition सोशल और इंटरनेट के इस दौर में जो महिलाएं उत्तराखंड के गांव में हैं वो भी लंबा पिठ्या नही लगाती। अगर बार वजह की करें तो साफ़ है आधुनिक चकाचौंध में बदलता लाइफस्टाइल “आजकल तो यही चलता है, “जा चेला दुकानम बैटी 5 रुपे पिठ्या पूड़ी ले आ, और प्लेट में घोई ,शीश मे देखि गोल टिकक लगे ली” ये अलग बात है कि शहरों में यह परम्परा विलुप्ति की कगार पर जरूर है,मगर पहाड़ी क्षेत्रों की माताएं बहने, इसे अभी भी जीवित किये हुए है। कुमाऊं के कुछ क्षेत्रों में ,विवाह आदि शुभ अवसरों पर ,महिलाएं नाखम बे पिठ्या लगाई हुई आपको ज़रूर नज़र आएँगी।

Kumaoni Tradition अगर आप किसी पहाड़ी शादी में शामिल होते हैं तो आपको आज भी वही वेशभूषा , गीत संगीत और साजसज्जा का परिवेश नज़र आएगा। पहाड़ी पिछोड़े में,सिर पर राधा कृष्ण वाला मुकुट, नाख में टिहरी की चन्द्रहार नाथ, और सबसे विशेष नाखः टुकम बे पिठ्या! सच्ची उजई जयूनी जैसी दुल्हन देख कर आप सोच में पड़ जाएंगे कि जिस दौर में महानगरों में डेस्टिनेशन वेडिंग और प्री वेडिंग शूट का चलन निकल पड़ा है वहीं पहाड़ों में पारम्परिक रस्मोरिवाज निभाई जा रही है। 
कई लोग बाहर रहते हुए भी अपनी सांस्कृतिक जड़ो से जुड़े हैं। और इन्ही लोगो के कारण ये परम्पराएं बची हुई हैं। ये जो हमारा कुमाउनी परिधान है, यह एक यूनिक परिधान है, इसके साथ नाखः टुकम पे पिठ्या,का कॉम्बिनेशन है, इसमे देवभूमि की महिलाओं के सौंदर्य को एक अलग ही अंदाज़ में तेजपूर्ण बनाता है।
